About the Program Director:
Dr. Bhaskar Kallakury, MD graduated from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India, and completed his pathology residency at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India. Subsequently, Dr. Kallakury completed another residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. Dr. Kallakury concluded his training with several fellowships including Surgical, Renal and Molecular Pathology at Albany Medical College, Albany, NY and Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C.,

In 2001, Dr. Kallakury joined MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as a professor of Pathology and Director of Transplant, Electron Microscopy, and Renal Pathology. Since then, he has distinguished himself as an excellent diagnostic pathologist, teacher, and researcher. He has been a long-standing member of the USCAP and CAP, has over 450 publications including peer reviewed articles, scientific presentations and book chapters and served as an investigator in more than a dozen federally funded research grants.

Dr. Kallakury is also the liaison (pathology) Director of the Pediatric Nephrology fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, D.C., Dr. Kallakury brings unparalleled diagnostic expertise and passion for teaching and translational research to the comprehensive training and development of the fellows in this program.
