Welcome to sports performance at Hunt Valley  

We are ready to strengthen and condition athletes who have completed their physical therapy and been released to activity. We work in conjunction with your physical therapist to bridge the gap from PT to playing your sport and the demands required to complete a practice or competition.

Fitness Programs

We also offer a wide range of fitness programs for adult athletes or individuals looking to improve their overall health.

Our providers

  • Alex Milton, M.Ed., CSCS, ELDOA 1&2, FRCms, PES

    Alex MiltonAlex is a certified strength and conditioning specialist for MedStar Health. He specializes in rehab performance and oversees the return-to-play program. Alex works closely with physical therapists to train athletes who are coming back from injuries. He works with a wide range of sports and ages, from middle school athletes to professional level players in the NFL and NBA. Outside of this program, he trains high school teams and college athletes, providing education to properly sprint and lift effectively for their respective sports.

    Before coming to MedStar Health, Alex worked at eight different Division I universities, including University of North Carolina, Wake Forest University, and University of Kentucky. He oversaw their training protocols and GPS systems, where he tracked and monitored player data and metrics. This provides an elevated insight into the teams’ adaption to training and stress tolerance.

    In his free time, Alex enjoys traveling and scuba diving and has a passion for photography.

  • Jay Dyer, CSCS

    Jay DyerJay Dyer is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and director of sports performance for MedStar Union Memorial Sports Medicine. Outside of the sport of lacrosse, Jay has trained Division I and Division III athletes in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and field hockey. Athletes from the National Football League, National Basketball Association, and Major League Baseball have utilized the program to improve performance.

    In September 2013, Johns Hopkins Women's Lacrosse team began training with Jay Dyer at Strength and Conditioning. In 2014 the team broke the school record for wins in a season and qualified for the NCAA playoffs. The team returned to the NCAAs in 2015 and 2016.

  • Jay has been a prominent name in the Lacrosse world for many, many years. We’re happy to host him on our podcast to gain the perspective from a strength and conditioning coach on how to best train lacrosse athletes, and truly any athlete, which we dive into in the episode. 

    Jay shares his insight on the importance of relationship building, and tools he uses to build relationships with athletes to help them in the weight room and ultimately translates that into being a strong athlete on the field and in life.

  • Strength and Conditioning Coach, Alex Milton, joins us for our FINAL episode of the year!!! 

    He takes us on a journey of what it’s like to be a strength and conditioning coach for youth athletes up to the professional level. We discuss various treatment modalities and the challenges and rewards that come with working in various settings and different athletes. 

    Alex briefly touches on social media and the problems that may arise from this medium when it comes to forming optimal movement patterns in athletes and maintaining safety. 

    Alex is a wealth of knowledge and we’re grateful to have him join us to close out Season One of our podcast.
